Travel Ninjas - Hamburg Day 3...The Lion King...Day 40

The day has finally arrived.  We went to see The Lion King musical!

We rested most of the day as we wanted to be fresh and ready for the show!  Excitement was in the air...even on the bus!

We had to take a boat to cross the river to get to the theater.

The yellow boat is the Nala...the boat for the cast and also for theater-goers.  We were on a different boat.

Pulling up to the dock beside the theater.  Let the Magic begin!

We were greeted by the Lion himself in half of his makeup...
In motion and getting ready to perform!
He led us backstage and introduced us to some of the cast and sat us in the break-room where the cast has a full service kitchen, gourmet chef and terrace to chill on in between shows.

Most of the cast was outside soaking up the sun!

Backstage pass and tickets.

The show was completely in German but believe me I felt every word and of course every song.  "Circle of Life" gave me chills.  A classic performance by the whole cast but especially Darrin Lamont Byrd as Mufasa.  Wow.

The King!

A few shots of the night skyline after the show:

We traveled back home with the King after our beautiful night at the theater. Special thanks to Darrin!

Do you like musicals?  Traveling?  Germany?  We would LOVE to see the Lion King and Hamburg with YOU!

Randomness...Day 27 Somewhere in Hessen

I always enjoy reading other blogs and when I come across one that has no theme I get giddy.  So I am "swagger jacking" and doing a "Randomness" post about things in Germany thus far that tickle my fancy...enjoy...

Breakfast
This is QUARK...a cross between cream cheese and sour cream.  It comes in a block and you thin it with oil or lime juice.  Included in this particular bowl of quark is dried cranberries, sunflower seeds and bananas.  Quark is delicious.

The bread is just bread....but the shapes and textures are so delish.  This one has cream cheese with a honey drizzle.

Lunch
This beautiful man was in my menu when we went to lunch the other day.  Wow.

We took a day trip to the city of Worms.  This clock tower was the original "gateway" to the city.  I'm having difficulty finding the formal name (Rhein River Bridge is all I've found).  It was stunning.

A "street bridge"...the architecture was amazing in Worms.

The top of a cathedral

Another clock tower...simply beautiful.

Saying goodbye to the bridge.  I wasn't driving in case you want to know.

So the joy of getting to spend an extended period of time with my friend is equally measured in missing my friends and family at home.  I am so happy that I took this trip, but I am fully aware of how much I miss home.  I will have to do an additional blog about separation anxiety. Back to business...

Us hanging out at the club.  The bond cannot ever be broken.

We are looking for persons to join us on a once in a lifetime trip to Egypt.  The itinerary is being formulated and we need a small group of 6 to make this trip happen.  Please contact us at tourguide@ok.de to reserve your spot.

Not my picture...but it's the private yacht for the Egypt trip.

Finally some Dinner

This pic is from a different blog...but I need to pay my respects to Spargel...White Asparagus...The veggie Gold Standard of Spring in Germany.  The unofficial end of Spargel Season was June 24th.  My taste buds, stomach and mind are in a state of mourning.  I love spargel...the texture, the taste, how good it is for my body.

"The people love us!"  "Yes, especially with Hollandaise Sauce!"

Long Live Spargel!

Thank you for sharing the Visiting Ninja's Random blogging mind!  You are welcome to travel with us!

Club (Verein) June 2013

Somewhere in Hessen...Day 12: Club Night # ONE:  Casa Latina

The Travel Ninjas love to party.  We drink, dance, flirt and have a general good time wherever we are in the world.

Tonight we experienced Club Latina.

Native Ninja said this might be a hot night for us.  Plenty of peeps had rsvp'd on the Facebook page (and from some of the profiles that rsvp'd I was excited to meet them...).  We dressed carefully and headed out full of expectation.

On the way there we were treated to a beautiful rainbow sunset...the cam could not quite capture how amazing this sunset was:

Breathtaking!

Ok...nature viewing was over....we headed to the Verein!

The club was gorgeous, the music was loud and right...but why was it empty?  We were fashionably late (party started at 9, we got there at 11)...where was everyone?  The girl at the door said it should "pick up in about an hour".

Helloooooooo?

In the meantime I was struck by this quote etched on the wall:

We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are"

and of course...the required "kissy-face picture" to pass the time...

Kisses from Hessen!
Trying to catch the Native Ninja in the club lights...

The beautiful Native Ninja
Finally some people showed up.  Not a lot of people, but enough that when "Too Close" by Next starting spinning we finally danced enough to sweat!  Yes!  We went outside for some fresh air.  This club was beautiful inside and out.

Although the crowd never quite "popped" we had a good time at Club Latina.  The drinks were strong, the waitstaff was friendly/gorgeous and there was even advertising on the paper towels in the bathroom!  Propaganda or clever marketing trick? You decide!

They usually have Salsa dancing every Friday night and brunch on Sundays.  I truly hope we can make it back there before I (the Visiting Ninja) go home.

Come club with us!  Let's dance the night away in a foreign land!

Travel Love...

I dreamt big as a girl.  Deciding early on that I would be an opera singer that traveled the world, with a house in every major city and a trail of stories to tell my grandchildren.

Fast forward to 2013 and I have traveled a little, never sung an aria on a stage and have no children to have grandchildren.

My goal is still to travel the world, collecting stories and memories that I will share with the world.  One trip, step and goal at a time I will see the places I want to see.

I'm in love with traveling.  The romantic idea of it quickly dims when you look at airline fees, rude TSA agents and taking off shoes repeatedly.  But once you are AT your destination it's all worth it.

I love the quote above because it speaks the the spirit of travel.  To read about Greece, then to actually stand on the cliffs and look at the blue water.   To speak Spanish in 7th grade and then have those words come back to you as you try to order food in Madrid.  Traveling is in my blood, my core, my heart.

Let Sabine guide you on a magical adventure in Frankfurt.  You will not be disappointed. Sabine's email (tourguide@ok.de)

Keep falling in love with where you want to go...
